Dr Cristina Murphy, BSc, MSc, PhD
Dr Cristina Murphy is a consultant audiologist and clinical researcher specialising in auditory processing disorder (APD). With more than 25 years of experience in the field, her work focuses on the relationship between auditory processing difficulties and neurodivergence. Her career involves both clinical and academic practice with several papers published in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as invited presentations at national and international conferences. As a respected member of the Steering Committee for the APD Special Interest Group of the British Society of Audiology (BSA), she remains closely engaged with the field and informed about its latest developments.
Alongside her role at THE APD CLINIC, she is a Visiting Lecturer at the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra in Portugal and Aston University, where she shares her knowledge and expertise with the next generation of audiologists.

Auditory Processing Disorder (APD)
Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) is characterised by difficulty understanding what we hear, particularly in complex acoustic environments—for example,
with background noise, during phone conversations, or when several people
are talking at once. Most individuals with APD have normal hearing,
so hearing loss does not explain these difficulties.
The Auditory Processing Assessment will determine whether APD is present, while also taking a broad view of listening difficulties and considering all possible factors associated with the individual's symptoms.
